WOW …
I am constantly in awe of our community and friends!
The weather seemed against us for the previous four weekends and the Saturday before this year’s 5k; but, Nicholas was watching out for us. The weather cleared early; and, the temperature was the warmest of the past three years. The volunteers worked diligently yet with an incredible light hearted attitude. Different from the last two years, the mood was more celebratory.
More than 250 participants and 50 volunteers showed up to help raise funds and promote family fun. Many participants commented on the very cool ‘stuff’ we had this year: bounce houses, State Trooper Hall with his super cruiser, Complete Music, face painting, the Chick-fil-a Cow, Troop 780 bike rodeo, and much more made for a make shift mid-way and great carnival atmosphere. Freeman West Insurance gave away a GPS locator and food was for sale from Good Stuff Ice Cream and the Castle Rock Sausage Factory. Most importantly, we communicated our mission to help families and youths enjoy the outdoors safely!
Thank you to everyone that participated, volunteered, sponsored or observed! I am inspired to work harder and be a better individual because of the awe inspiring dedication of so many people that make this event successful.
Thank you,
